Hey guys!

I FIGURED OUT HOW TO INSTALL FOG LIGHTS ON THE SOLTERRA PREMIUM!!!

Here are all the parts I used:
10mm socket
Plastic trim removal tools
Wire cutters
scissors
zip ties
you're going to need "vampire clips" to potentially cut and "rewire" the harness because the H11 didn't work right for me. I had to cut the wires and reconnect the red to black, and black to red. It was bizarre. 5% offElectrical Quick Splice Wire Connectors, 150 pcs Solderless Snap Connector, Blue, Wire Splice Connector, Insulated Wire Crimp Connectors Terminal$11.59Amazon.com$11.01 at checkoutCode copied to clipboardSave 5% with one time couponAmazon.comNo code requiredDiscount is automatically applied at checkout. short step by step

MAKE SURE THE FOG LIGHTS WORK BEFORE YOU INSTALL THEM.

1. park your car
2. e brake!!
3. remove the front fog light covers with plastic trim removal tools
4. turn wheel all the way to the right
5. remove trim clip in wheel well nearest the bumper cover
6. reach behind and install the fog light
7. connect the harness
8. unlatch hood and prop the hood up
9. remove the beauty cover by pushing "DOWN" in the centers of the clips (they're round, you'll see it - DON'T LOSE THEM). REMOVE THEM ALL and put them on the windshield cowl.
10. move the beauty cover and remove the 4 10mm fasteners connecting the bumper to the car (you'll see them). lift slightly to loosen the clips.
11. walk to the right side and remove EXTREMELY SMALL trim clip holding the bumper to the car (you WILL see it. it's super tiny but easy to remove)
12. with a swift jerking motion, separate the bumper from the headlight (in upwards and outwards motion, swiftly pull, but be careful. use force, but don't just RIP it out - use common sense)
once you've separated the bumper from the headlight, go below the car and remove the approximately 8 fasteners from below the bumper cover.
13. CAREFULLY... CAARRREEFULLLLYYY... separate the bumper cover from the car. there are HARNESSES CONNECTED TO THE BUMPER COVER. BE CAREFUL DON'T JUST YANK!!!
14. FROM HERE... you can reach behind and install the fog light and screw them in, and route your harness through.
15. BEFORE you put everything back together, choose how you want to supply power/ground/switch to your harness. I used the HWD (Heated Wiper Deicer) relay (a 4-pin connector as seen in the link)Aeola Multiple Use Relay 90987-02027 A/C Cooling Fan Relay 2 Pack 4-Pin for Toyota Horn Relay OEM 90080-87026
16. IF you're using this route, the female connector for the relay (NOT on the relay itself, where the relay fits into the socket) furthest away from the driver (horizontal horizontal vertical vertical) is the "output". Connect it to that.
17. Connect ground to ground, power to power (I used the 12V starter battery).
18. Turn the car on and turn your Heated Wiper Blades on and your fog lights will illuminate. I'll make a YouTube video on it soon! Check it out: JDWay on YouTube

I used to have a RAV4, and I installed fog lights on them. The beam pattern was like, 120*. It was SUPER wide. They would allow me to see to the left and to the right because of how wide the beam was. The new subaru LED Fog lights do the same, so I was hoping to install them but I don't know how. I can install the harness, and the fog lights, but I don't know where I would even plug them in so it would make sense.... Just trying to get inspired

There are, unfortunately, at least three prior posts whereby the Solterra owner had their car completely written off after an accident. People were talking about buying them from the insurance company and making them parts cars for others though I'm not sure anyone has actually done that. Anyway, I found the three posts that I recall.

Don't forget that you'll have to get a new steering column stalk since that is where the Solterra fog lamp switch is (assuming the wiring harnesses are the same for the Premium vs other models).

Hey,

So those fog lights are H11 fog lights. Subaru (or eBay or amazon) will sell them for cheap, and the harness is like $20 on amazon. The PROBLEM is wiring them.

I was wanting to hook them up to a headlight harness (like the parking lights - the small amber lights in the corner with the reflector) so when they come on, the fog lights come on, but we can't! Because everything... EVERYTHING... is in the headlight housing! Wild. so I'm like, okay what about the fuse box? I can't seem to figure that one out either because I COULD do a piggyback on a 10amp fuse, but the problem is once the car comes on, the fogs will come on too and I don't want THAT... =/

It's tough! let's try and figure this out together
