We are getting ready to take deliver of our new Solterra in a couple weeks. What are the best home chargers that are recommended. I am not a DIY and plan to have an electrician or qualified installer do the install the charging unit.
Thanks

I had open breaker space in the power panel of the garage, so the decision to install a 240V 50 amp breaker to support the Grizzl-E EV charger seemed a no brainer. Could have hard wired the charger to the breaker but I need to keep an outlet available for the MIG welder. Wired a NEMA 14-50 outlet to the breaker to accept the 'no frills, no bells, no whistles' Grizzl-E charger and changed out the plug for the welder for multi use approach to the outlet, leaving the charger DIP switches to the 40 amp setting. The Solterra claims to use 27 amps max, but I found out differently using an ammeter after install and verified its pulling 29.7 amps (both black and red leads). Being paranoid, I checked the breakers, plugs, and cables for temperature 'excursions'. The 50 amp breaker was warm and emitting a little bit of humming noise (light arching) which was rectified by reseating the breaker. Noise gone, no more heat, happy install! Really can't beat the cost or the quality of the Grizzl-E 'dumb' charger, and they aren't built in China (Go Canada!).

I have been using a Morec 32A 240V charger with my Solterra, and have had it since 2019, when I got my Kona EV. Has worked flawlessly. My son with his Tesla has the same one, after his Tesla supplied one conked out (overheating) a year ago.

And just recently, bought a Grizzl-e Smart charger, 40 amp, 10kW output. Besides being heavy duty with the heavier cord and metal box, it also has wifi for scheduling and providing stats on usage. I wanted that one for my Ioniq 6 which can take a 10 kW charge and has a 77 kWh battery. I actually have both 14-50 and 6-50 plugs in my garage. The Grizzl-e is set up for the 6-50 on a 50A breaker, and I use the Morec with the 14-50 on a 40A breaker. Theoretically I could charge both cars at the same time, but I don't think I will ever need to do that. Probably just use the Grizzl-e for both cars.

On trips will take the Morec along as it is lighter and I have a bunch of adapters for it, incl for TT30 120v RV plugs at campgrounds. May also use the Morec if I want to charge at 16A at our cabin, instead of the Subaru 12A one. But I suspect the 12A will be good enough. My battery storage there is 19 kWh, but you really don't want to run it below 50%. My solar capacity though is 3.2 kW (ideal conditions), so should have plenty for day time charging.
