Reminds me of what I said a really long time ago, that the Solterra was a cross between the Prius and RAV4. Very early Prius design was quite apparent in the center console tunnel -- I hated it then and hate it now (and I had a 2001 Prius I was looking to upgrade). Now they've definitely confirmed the design position they were coming from. I'd even go so far as to say they are using Subaru to try and push the design to try and make it more mainstream.

That looks much more "gray" than the HMG shots (and cars) I have seen. I like it!

Annoying that they toned down the whole bathtub-in-front-of-the-gauges thing and blended the center display into the dash better, obviously taking all the criticism of the bZ4X and Solterra to make their next vehicle better.

I'm glad to see the Prius now has an IP in front of the driver, that seems like a major change. Something good copied from the SoltForks?

That new Prius looks awesome. If I was in the market for a smaller sedan I would definitely put that near the top of the list. Especially because they also improved general performance as well. No more 0-60mph in 10 seconds!

but I have two small kids. Definitely won’t work for our lifestyle.

Yep. Here's what mine looked like; was pretty much a spaceship in 2001. I drove it for 10 years and 330,000 miles through almost every state. I completely forgot about that goofy shifter that blocked part of the controls, but it really wasn't that big a deal getting used to all the information being in the center. They certainly could have split the information into 2 displays they could reverse for different markets instead of a single location. Definitely a precursor to the current display they are certain to double-down on and push into more models -- using the same parts is all foundational to cost savings.

After quickly closing the ordering option on bZ4X and Solterra in Japan, and excluding the US completely, looks like Prius gets the Solar Charging System. So we see yet again where their priorities are.
