Cars bound for Texas go through Richmond CA. Only cars bound for east coast states go through Panama.
Every time I visit San Francisco I pass through Richmond and see the thousands of cars sitting at the port. The last time I passed by Richmond was on Feb 5th. I joked with my wife that maybe my Solterra was there. I picked up my Solterra 6 days later so it was a very good chance it was. :)

So I have a question -- these are undeniably photos of Solterras awaiting loading on a RORO vehicle carrier. But in Yokosuka, Japan, presumably adjacent to the US Navy facility there.

The Motomachi plant, where the cars are being manufactured, is outside Nagoya, ~100 miles a way, and is a significant port in its own right. Why transport the vehicles that far to load them on a ship for the US?

The port you're referring to is high volume, and turn around...if you watch ships there, they are in and out like pulling into home depot. The Subaru's aren't that volume, also the ships carrying them are picking up, are getting just the Solterra's, they are stored at a mix use low volume port that mainly serves a large ferry. Also cause the area is mix use by US and Japanese Navy, you want to mitigate the congestion.

Mitigating the congestion sounds like a reason not to use it at all, actually.

So it's just Subaru Solterras shipping out of there? Or Solterras and Buzzforks?

Anyway, your info on the Apollon Leader seems to have panned out. She's due in Balboa, Panama to transit the canal on the 8th. She's then calling in Providence, RI on 3/15, where my dealer told me this morning that my vehicle will be unloaded. He warned me not to get too eager, though. He said he's seen it take as long as 3 weeks for a car to get from there to my dealer, which could push it into early April.

But at least the end is in sight... 367 days after placing my order!

I was thinking of the order, but looking back, you're right, it was April. I was able to make my reservation 12 minutes after the system opened. Obviously, I conflated the date of one event with the month of the other.

Still, 367 days, or 327 days, at thet point, it doesn't make much difference.

Did you want me to snatch you one out of the lot and mail it to you....
There's a video feed of how busy Tokyo bay get, it's crazy all the ships that come and go hourly.

Says the Green Lake is headed for US Van Vancouver. It looks like this port is Portland, Oregon. I guess I'll have to wait for the next ship. At least the folks in the Pacific Northwest will be getting some more Solterras!

No, the ship will probably go from there to Richmond, CA, and then to somewhere in So Cal.

My Solterra (IL) came through Vancouver WA, as did cars going as far east as Ohio.
