I called my SA today to see if there was any news. She still doesn’t know when my car will arrive. I was the first one to place a reservation at the dealership and I really enjoyed the test drive, and can’t imagine buying it from another dealer, so I am willing to wait. She offered to put us first on a list for a 2024 model and I am wondering about that option. I’ve waited this long and feel like it might make sense to wait a little longer and see what they do in the second year. Any opinions?

I'm actually hoping my car doesn't come in before the 2024 model year (my current ICE car will keep me functional). It can only get better from here, if the Norwegian articles about charge curve and heating ambitions are to be believed. And for me, all I need is some decent charging (although range boosts wouldn't hurt), and then it's the perfect car for me.

Honestly, if you're willing to wait for the '24 model, I'd wait for it. I agree that the future versions can only get better. If you want one striking example. look at the USA Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Ratings-- that only the 2023 models produced after October 2022 would qualify for their Top Safety Pick+. Don't get me wrong, I really like my 2023, but at the same time it seemed long in the tooth to buy an "all-new" 2023 Solterra in February 2023.

My Solterra arrived at the dealer last week (I placed my deposit in Feb 2022). One of the things I checked was the build date on the manufacturers plate. I didn't want to buy a "new" vehicle that had been sitting on the lot for 9 months. Mine was built in January 2023. Curiously, all the labeling on the door stickers etc said Toyota, not Subaru.

My VIN is a "Toyota" VIN, beginning with J for Japan and then T for Toyota.

Following. I posted a similar dilemma. Mine has arrived, but I'd rather wait for '24 so I can get possible improvements and MAYBE they will have done something to make the car eligible for tax rebates (although I am hearing conflicting news on that). Have a week to make up my mind (though I don't know if they would easily put me on list for next year).

Willingness to put us on the list for '24 was a concession from our SA because of the lengthy wait. We have the luxury of more time to decide and can wait till it actually shows up on the lot to find out what waiting for the '24 actually means.
