We were able to purchase and drive home a Solterra (Limited) yesterday and thought I'd share our experience.

We reserved our car back in February and placed a factory order in April through our dealer. Like everyone else our delivery date kept slipping from August to September to December to January.

Earlier this week we were finally able to test drive the dealer's service vehicle. My wife and I don't have a lot of EV experience but we are long-time Subaru owners. Both of us were impressed with the drive: immediate accelleration, excellent grip on the wet, windy roads, and a quiet cabin. My wife was immediately sold, especially due to the plentiful and familiar layout of physical buttons and controls. We walked away impressed, glad to keep waiting for our "January" delivery.

The next day our sales rep contacted us letting us know that they had just taken delivery of a Limited Solterra - same specs as the one we ordered but not the same color. It took us 5 seconds to say Yes to that offer.

Three hours later we drove our new Solterra off the lot (at MSPR; manufactured 4/22; pleasant dealership experience). We had just had a level 2 charger installed at our home, so we plugged it in and charged it overnight - went from about 26% to 100% in about 8 hours at ~7.1 kWh. Will need to set it to cap at 80% in the long run for daily use.

So far we are very pleased with the car - the Solterra will complement nicely our Ascent for our uses. I'll share more observations as we put more miles on the car.

Keep in contact with your dealer - I've read similar stories on these forums of dealers having "unreserved" vehicles come in. We did not expected to take ownership of a new car yesterday but we're glad it happened!

Congratulations! I too love that the Solterra is like a "normal" car rather than with all new user interface like Tesla and most of the other companies.

Ours is scheduled for March and I cannot wait. My first demo drive will be tomorrow.

I had my first sit (no test drive) in a still protective-wrapped Solterra. I am 6' and sat in the back seat first and was a bit dissapointed that my knees were touching the front seat. Then I sat in the front seat and could not reach the pedals... Once the front seat was adjusted to a usable position I had plenty of leg room in both the front and rear seats. Also ample headroom for me in both front and back seats. My wife is shorter and said the seats and sitting position is very comfortable (and oodles of room).

I am very excited for an actual test drive and my solterra is scheduled to arrive next week (fingers crossed.)

There’s definitely plenty of rear leg room in the Solterra.

I could not adjust the steering wheel to NOT block the dashboard. The small colored text doesn’t help either as it’s necessary to read to determine if driver assist is active.

I could not figure out how to change regen during my drive and the sales guy didn’t know either. There are paddles behind the steering wheels which I forgot about. The default creeps too much for my liking.

Just curious, since you're "OregonSubi" I'm assuming you are in Oregon. Was it from a Lithia dealership? At MSRP is fantastic. When I spoke to them they were talking about a PNW mark-up of something like $6K which I've been hoping that they would now reconsider.

Yes in Oregon - Capitol Subaru in Salem. They've been great to work with and advertise that they price their vehicles at MSRP. It is also who we had our initial reservation through.

That's fantastic. I'm waiting on Lithia in Oregon City. They have been completely uncommunicative, which seems like the norm from this forum and others. I'm still hopeful that they will waive the mark-up otherwise I may end up passing and looking at alternatives given the charging issues. Thanks for your response.

MSRP really shouldn't be viewed as "fantastic". Despite the high demand, not consumer should pay more than that. Subaru of America has said point blank to their dealers that they are NOT to charge ADM. The policy is inconsistent with their brand image.

Every Subaru dealer in my area proudly proclaims that they never sell over MSRP.

Fair enough. I wasn't aware that "Subaru of America has said point blank to their dealers that they are NOT to charge ADM." I've checked around and from what I've heard it's more common than not in this area.
