According to an email sent out by Subaru, Solterra reservations will be "coming soon" and will require a $250 refundable deposit.
I guess you get first dibs. In Canada, the deposit is refundable at any time. One more point, in Canada there is a limit on what they can charge for the vehicle to get government rebates. I am pretty sure they will stick with MSRP for the car and it will be priced against MRSP for competition (i.e. Hyundai Ioniq 5 or VW ID.4)What kinda BS is this? I got the same email. So they want a reservation before they even say how much it's gonna cost??? Subaru acting like Ford.
It's a refundable deposit that gets a placeholder in the initial production schedule...if you what to get in line, you can still bail if the final pricing isn't to your liking. This has become common for new EV models and other special editions for a number of years now. What kinda BS is this? I got the same email. So they want a reservation before they even say how much it's gonna cost??? Subaru acting like Ford.
Which dealership? I am in Langley. The person I talked to, didn’t have any info and want deposit for whenever reservation will open. This person had No info whatsoeverI am in BC, Canada and put a $500 refundable deposit on one a few weeks ago. Local dealer also had information on numbers coming to their dealer and the timing. Not many - 3 in June, 3 in July, and 3 in August. I got one that is supposed to come in August. The said they are getting more, but this is the only number they were certain to get. I also don't know what colour options there will be, trim level, or even cost. Here in BC, the price will likely be under the $55,000 cdn threshold that give access to $5,000 fed government rebate and $3,000 Provincial rebate. This also assumes that the rebate funds are available so I am expecting a cost after rebates and before taxes of between $45,000 - $47,000 CDN.
Also, recently the local Toyota dealer called to say they are taking deposits on the BZ4x but wanted $1,000 and had NO information on what is coming in and when..
