For those Canadians interested. The Solterra Connect features/components and costs have been posted on the Subaru Canada website.

Solterra Connect - Connected Services - Subaru Canada

• Safety Connect - free for 10 years on a new vehicle and then $9.95/month + tax after trial.
• Remote Connect - free for 3 years on a new vehicle and then $9.95/month + tax after trial.
• Service Connect - free for 10 years on a new vehicle and then complimentary with any active subscription of Safety Connect, Remote Connect or Drive Connect after.
• Drive Connect - no trial period. This service is $19.95/month + tax.

Remote connect is a must and will subscribe once the trial is up. Safety and service should be lifetime.

I did subscribe for one month of drive connect to check it out. So far, I don’t see any real benefits over what Apple CarPlay gives me. That could change in remote areas where service is an issue I guess.

I would suspect that if your phone doesn’t have service, the car won’t either since I believe the connected services for Drive Connect are through a mobile carrier partner like Bell or Rogers.
