I placed my order less than 4 minutes after reservations opened. Given the insane gas prices, I called my local dealership today to enquire about my reservation. The customer service rep told me a sales rep would reach out to me with an update within the day. About an hour later, I received the included text message.

So 12-15 months just to place an order?!? I thought 6,000 units were expected this year? Tesla Model 3 is currently out of my budget but 15 months is probably enough time to greatly reduce that savings gap.

Also, a Subaru insider (friend) told me the Solterra will NOT be assembled state side. SIA will have nothing to do with it. Can anyone confirm?

the Solterra is being made at a Toyota Japan factory with its twin the Toyota bz4x.

Hopefully, that is for next year's paucity of Subaru (Love is now electric) EVs. Let's wait and see.
I’ll be reaching out to my dealership again just to verify the timeline. I just can’t imagine the dealer’s entire allotment would be claimed within 4 minutes. Granted, Subies are very popular in my area. 🤷

EVs are in big demand these days, even older used ones. And with the chip shortages, now nickel, and who knows what else, these things might be delayed even longer.

The reservation system opened (secretly) at 9:50AM MST. I didn't check until a little after 10AM. Got my reservation in by 10:05AM, at which point many of the dealers near me (Metro Denver) with smaller allocations were already showing wait list message. I received the official email at 10:20AM that the reservation system was open, but had been checking prior to that, and the site was slow and erroring out. After that 10:20 email, every single dealership in Colorado had no reservations left.

"I will be the Product Specialist you'll be working with during you're Soltera journey"

During "you are Soltera" journey?!?

Seeing as every opening presentation of the vehicle points out the name is a combination of Sol and Terra (Latin for Sun and Earth), wouldn't the texter at least get the name of the product right?

Haha! I didn’t even noticed the sales person spelled SOLTERRA wrong! Not a great look on their part. Glad I concealed the name & dealer… not trying to embarrass anyone here.

You might want to verify with your dealership that whomever contacted you is legit. Misspellings are often an indication of a bad actor. I'd hate to think that a Subaru dealership has been hacked...

I got mine on March 10. A few days after putting down my $500 deposit at our dealer in Nanaimo BC Canada. He said he had some 25 or so coming in when I first talked to him and took my deposit. I am number 30, I think as they expect a few cancellations. The email asked me what trim level and colour I wanted and also said they would probably only get a couple of base models, which is what I want. So I chose a base colour, Carbon for a base one, and my preference the red one, which turns out to be a 2 tone job, on a tech level one.

I dunno, I'm way down the list, I may not get one at all.
