Has anyone noticed the cruise control icon on the dash panel display (meter) is always on?

At least, in my Touring, it’s on continuously…its white when cruise control is ”off”, and green when cruise control is active. I’ve also noticed that once cruise control has been activated, the selected speed (under the distance bars) continues to be displayed even after cruise control has been canceled, and only goes away after the car has been turned off.

Is that the same experience others are having, or unique to my vehicle?

It’s not a problem, but a little confusing until you understand the behavior.

I did notice this on my brief test drive (Touring too, FWIW), and was quite confused by it. I wanted to turn the cruise off, but it didn't seem like there was a way to do that.

You can change both the type of cruise control you want, and what you want displayed on the dash, or even hide it. I just show ongoing avg energy consumption. You can also set this to be refreshed every time you start the car, or keep the running avg until you reset it by pushing the OK button.

When you activate cruise control with the right steering buttons it also shows on the dash.

This is the first vehicle I recall owning that displays a cruise control icon even when the function hasn’t been selected.

To me, it’s more of a peculiarity than a problem or issue. Once you know what’s happening, it’s no longer confusing.

Every vehicle has its little oddities, I guess.

How do you hide the icon?

I couldn’t find it in the manual anywhere… perhaps I just missed it…

Hitting the return button on the top left side steering wheel hides the Multi Info display On and Off on the left part of your dash. And when On you can choose what information you want displayed. Starting reading on page 153 of your manual, quite a bit there to understand and absorb, and not exactly intuitive. Let me know if you have questions and I will try to help.

One thing I checked early on with that display was my tire pressure readings, as I want them to be correct. I was happy to see that they were all at 39 PSI (door is 38), so the dealer did a good PDI. In general with EVs, and even ICE vehicles, to get your best economy driving have the PSI set a couple over the door readings.

Thanks!

I’ve gone thru that menu multiple times, yet I can’t find a way to hide the cruise control icon.

I agree it’s not exactly intuitive, but usually I can figure these things out eventually.

I’ve gone over that area in the manual a lot, yet can’t figure out how to hide that icon. Maybe I’m all over it but missing the obvious…

Actually the hiding part is on bottom page 152.

Pardon me please if I’m having a “senior” moment here…Sometimes a picture is helpful, so I’ve taken one to show exactly what I’m looking at.

The cruise control icon immediately above the 217 mi indicator is what I cannot figure out how to hide.

Oh, OK, sorry, thought you were talking about the left side of the dash, where you can also display CC info. The right side is your main drive screen and displays the info you need while driving. The little icons there are the driving assist ones ( buttons on the right part of the steering wheel) that are ready to be activated. If you press the cruise control button it will light up green on the dash. My dash actually shows more icons there, like LKA. I know you can change and turn off some of these driver assist features, and maybe they won't show there then. The CC settings are on page 577 of your manual. But you may not be able to use all the CC functions if you turn stuff off there.

When all else fails, a picture can bring so much more information to the discussion.

Thanks for your assistance!
No problem, although looking back I should have read your first post more carefully.

Lots to learn with a new car, and will be a while before I know everything that is important to me. But I am slowly knocking things off as I drive more and check the manual.

I believe that icon tells you if turning on cruise control will give you Adaptive Cruise Control (adjust to traffic ahead of you) or standard (run into slow person ahead of you). (Sorry, from memory from a test drive over a week ago.)

Some brands will hide those bells and whistles from you, if you choose not to pay the required subscription fee. Heated seats for a monthly fee, anyone?
I HATE subscriptions, but I see they are coming more and more with new cars. With the Solterra I saw that there was a subscription ($20 CAD a month, not even a trial period) for cloud nav. I thought that only applied to live traffic and construction events, etc, and you still always had basic GPS maps. The Kona worked that way. But no, there is no nav at all without a subscription. However, with Android Auto and Google Maps and Waze, connecting wireless, it is not an issue for me. I get in the car and Google Maps or Waze come on automatically, or whatever was used last. Works for me.

My Touring came with a ”free” subscription for 1 year of the NAV system, but I doubt I’ll renew it when the year is up. Google maps will work just fine for my needs …

Manufacturers are looking for new revenue streams, so expect the subscription model to intensify…

One of the cars I was considering during the "radio silence period" (factory shutdown) last summer was the Audi Q4 e-tron. On all but the very top trim level, navigation wasn't available - not even for a monthly fee. Same with adaptive cruise control (and yet the car did have automatic emergency braking - AEB - go figure). I wasn't able to try out phone-based navigation (AA/CarPlay) because it was just a test drive and I didn't want to mess with pairing my phone to the car.
