We just took delivery of our HMG Touring yesterday, and on the 90+ mile drive home yesterday I was not able to figure out how to bump up or down the cruise control set speed in 5 MPH increments. The last four cars we've bought (2 Subarus and 2 BMWs, from model years 2014 through 2021) have all had this feature.

Is this something that's just absent from the Solterra's cruise control, or am I missing something?

Not having this will require a major adjustment on my part in the way I drive and (habitually) use CC.

It also doesn't help that the various CC buttons on the steering wheel are very flat and unremarkable by feel/touch (at least they're illuminated at night, which helps).

Haha, yup, completely different than any car I've owned too. First have to hit the top left button driver assist button, then the right cruise control button. To go up or down press the button to the left, + for up, and - for down. The + is also resume. Have fun, lots more unintuitive things to learn... What's bad too, in the dim interior hard to tell what each button is. They are not properly lit up like my other cars. Anyway, once you figure it out, its fine.

That is definitely a nuisance...

Like all the Toyotas I have ever owned.

The + and - button on the right side of the steering wheel will go up and down by 1 MPH increments in the US models. Other countries may vary.

When in adaptive cruise mode:

When the +switch is pressed and held, the set vehicle speed increases in approximately 1 mph (1.6 km/h) steps. It is possible to change the set vehicle speed difference via customize settings.*1

When the +switch is pressed and held, the set vehicle speed increases in approximately 5 mph (8 km/h) or 5 km/h (3.1 mph) steps. It is possible to change the set vehicle speed difference via customize settings.*2

If the +switch is tapped, the set vehicle speed increments by approximately 1 mph (1.6 km/h) for every operation of the switch (tap up function). It is possible to change the set vehicle speed difference via customize settings.*1

If the +switch is tapped, the set vehicle speed increments by approximately 1 mph (1.6 km/h) or 1 km/h (0.6 mph) for every operation of the switch (tap up function). It is possible to change the set vehicle speed difference via customize settings.*2

When the vehicle accelerates due to depression of the accelerator pedal and the +switch is tapped when vehicle speed is more than set vehicle speed, the set vehicle speed is set to the vehicle

Deceleration works similarly.

When in constant speed control mode:

When the +switch is pressed and held, the vehicle speed is increased by controlling the drive force.

If the +switch is tapped (approximately 0.6 seconds), the set vehicle speed increments by approximately 1 mph (1.6 km/h) for every operation of the switch (tap up function). It is possible to change the set vehicle speed difference via customize settings.*1

If the +switch is tapped (approximately 0.6 seconds), the set vehicle speed increments by approximately 1 mph (1.6 km/h) or 1 km/h (0.6 mph) for every operation of the switch (tap up function). It is possible to change the set vehicle speed difference via customize settings.*2

When the accelerator pedal is depressed, the vehicle is accelerating and the vehicle speed is more than the set vehicle speed, by tapping the +switch, the vehicle speed is set as the set vehicle speed.

press and hold the + or - for a second and it does 5 increases. This is common from some other automakers also. If you just tap them, it only does 1 mph/kmh up or down. Hope that helps!

I sorta tried that, but didn't notice that happening. Going out on the highway shortly, I'll give it a try. Thanks!

Our 2021 Outback works the opposite way. Single press up or down is 5 mph. Press and hold steps up or down in 1 mph increments.

But our 2017 Outback worked that way.
Yeah, can't remember which way they go, but I know they were adjustable on the steering wheel. This one is a little different in that there are two buttons.
