I managed to lose my fob last week which was pretty stupid. I have the dealer ordering one which will take 4-6 weeks to get and is amazingly expensive. I can't seem to find any fobs for sale that match except a used one for a 2021 RAV4 Prime. In reading it seems that you can't reuse fobs and also I don't have any way to figure out how to program.

My problem at this point is that I thought I had the digital key set up on my iPhone but it didn't work when I tried to use it after losing the fob. I notice that the Subaru Solterra app does not have the bluetooth icon showing above the Start button. Looking at the devices available in settings I see "SOLTERRA" and "CAR M_MEDIA" devices but I believe there was a "DIGITAL KEY" device previously.

So my question at this point is how do I get the Digital Key device to reappear and how do I get the digital key to work? I would feel much more comfortable if I had at least 2 ways to start the car in case the other fob stops functioning.

So far I have tried deleting the app shutting down the phone and then reinstalling the app. The app shows I have a digital key. I have then tried following directions to pair device using my wife's fob. The fob will beep twice but then nothing happens. The app does not show it is paired. I have tried removing the digital key and adding again with the same negative result.

So any ideas?

One option would be to remove driver profiles and try reassigning my wife's fob to me and then try Pairing. My thought on this is for some reason the system thinks it shouldn't pair since the phone and fob are assigned to different people. I'm a bit scared that if I do this the car will never work again. :)

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks for any help you can give.

My digital key phone works the same as a FOB. I just walk up to the car, open it and press the start button. But just be sure your phone is indeed paired to your phone and attached to your profile. Test it out first before depending on it.

Did you link it properly? I have explained this a couple times earlier on the forum, making references to the manual. There are several things that need to be done properly to make it work. Do some more reading in the manual. You might figure it out.

Woould like to help more, but unfortunately I didn't bookmark my replies, and don't have time right now to go research it all over again. It's been a while and can't remember everything I had to do. But it is in the manual.

I'm guessing OP still experiences difficulty with pairing phone to the car and use as car key. And the suggestions so far has not solved the problem.
OP do you mind taking a video of the process and see if you are using the same steps as those of us who had success with pairing the phone to the car?
On the side note, my phone only works if the Subaru Connect app is open in the background. If the program is turned off on the phone, the key does not work. (iOS)

Thank you for replies thus far. Have to admit I'm going to give up on making this work. Spent another hour today trying to follow Manual and prompts. since losing my fob I can't make my phone connect with the car. It keeps saying it can't connect with bluetooth. So I've lost Apple car play and such. I managed to get Solterra connect, which I gather is through WiFi to connect again so I can unlock doors and start the heating system remotely. Hopefully the dealer can figure things out when the new fob is available. Haven't found a way to start everything from scratch which is probably what I need to do. Just clueless on this. Fortunately the car starts at this point if my wife's fob is present but no longer have any presets or such.

It would make sense that you would need to have a fob nearby when trying to set up a digital key. When you're going through the process, do you have your wife's fob nearby? If your wife's fob can only set up a digital key on her phone for some reason, can you try that and then she can share a digital key with you?

I have a similar problem, I download my digital key everything was working great, few days later, I discover my parking assistant not working and the sensors are off alignment. I called Solterra Connect they told me to uninstall the app and reinstall it after that my digital key is not working anymore.

Strange. Wonder how the sensors being out of alignment would relate to digital key not working, or just coincidence. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times in my crusade to get things to work.
