I can hear the.buzzer but it's not like a beep beep. It's not loud enough to be annoying to me and I do want people to be notified when I'm backing out of a space. So I will leave it on.

That's a different sound that what OP was asking about. One is inside the car, for the driver's benefit, the other is outside, for when the vehicle is moving slowly, both forwards and backwards.
