While listening to XM radio, I want to send a text. Messaging comes on and asks me what I want to say and then listens for me to say my message. The problem is that whatever I am listening to from XM continues to audibly play while I'm speaking my text message. It's very awkward to have that happen. Anyone have an idea about this?

I have the same issue. In my Ascent it auto-mutes the audio (regardless of source) when sending a CarPlay text message, but the Solterra only turns the volume down (and just a bit). So odd that it doesn't fully mute it. Not ideal.

This is a common complaint with Toyotas new system. Check out some YouTube videos for Tundras and other vehicles they use it. Hopefully they address in a software update. Currently it doesn’t mute or lower whatever audio is playing like it should (like every other vehicle without this system).

Ah, it’s a “Hey Siri, Mute”.

Try holding down the voice button on the steering wheel until the AirPlay display shows it’s listening.

Or, easier, just make the audio system mute by holding down the Mode switch on the right side of the steering wheel until it mutes.

Holding down the voice button didn't work. But, holding down the Mode switch on the right side of the steering wheel did mute the XM radio and allowed me to speak my text message without the radio playing at the same time. Thanks for the suggestion.
