Any idea what time? After watching the Bronco and C8 reservations go nuts, I can only imagine hours or even minutes would make the difference whether or not you got in under the first ~6k.

Welcome to the forum. That's a good question, I don't know myself. A good strategy should be to get notifications from all of Subaru's social pages for an announcement of when reservations open, if they announce it on social.

Contacting your local dealer(s) for any info they have might also help.

It's going to be price-dependent, but I'm mostly purchasing for the Subaru+EV factor so either Premium or Limited. Most of the things I'd want from the Limited options I can add to the Premium after the fact.

Further down the road when the tech is more mature, I'd opt for a Touring but at the rate batteries, motors, etc. are improving these might end up being nearly worthless in 5-10 years so I'm hedging my bets.

On a related note, any idea of exterior colors besides the 3 on Subaru.com?

I'm thinking to take a similar approach, just having a base Solterra would make me very happy.

My best guess is some other very popular Subaru colors and a couple of typical EV looking colors.

I hope we get this interior that the JDM market version comes with.

If the Outback is any indicator, it was only available on the Touring model (if it is the Java interior) when we got ours in 2017. Not sure about more recent models.

The Bronco reservation had you choose a trim level, but when it came time to order you could change it. For the C8 Corvette it was just a reservation, no trim (coupe or convertible), you also chose when you ordered. I wonder if Subaru will hold you to your choice. Hopefully it won't be a cluster like those two, I ended up canceling both.

As far as the Solterra, I went with the Smoked Carbon Premium.

They opened reservations at 10 minutes before 9am (PST). I ordered mine in Touring trim, black on black so I can wrap this baby! Fingers crossed I got in my reservation early enough to secure one this Summer!!

Fortunately I live by one of the highest volume dealers in the country, my "local" one had no availability but Heuberger did. It's a 100 mile drive but we've bought out past 2 Subaru's there and they have the best prices by far. I think a lot of the allocations will depend upon sales volume, just like the Bronco and C8.

My reservation number is gobbly-****, so I have no idea where I am in line...

Edit: Ironically I just got the "It's time to reserve your Solterra" email, 30 minutes after it opened up. Glad I was checking continuously. Using the link from the email yesterday, the text link for reservations doesn't show up. You have to strip the querystring off from the right, in other words the regular Solterra web page.

I tried to go through it again to take a closer look at the options, but after I select a dealer I get "Submission Error". I cleared my cookies twice but no dice.

Was going through it again, and selecting the dealer shows all of them in Colorado with no availability now, not even Heuberger. That was fast.
